Position Description

The 3200 unit is a Medical-Surgical unit comprising 35 beds, with 12 designated for Long Length of Stay patients. These patients are medically stable but face placement challenges, having been hospitalized for over 28 days. Additionally, 2 rooms are designated as safety rooms for behavioral health patients.

The remaining beds accommodate standard medical-surgical patients from various services including KP and Hospitalist/Nephrology.

The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 to 5-6, while the Patient Care Technician (PCT) ratio is 1 to 12-14 patients.

Remote Telemetry is available for 16 patients. Skills required include Peritoneal dialysis (CAPD).

Registered Nurses must possess EKG, NIH, BLS, and ACLS certifications.

Job Responsibilities

We are looking for a Registered Nurse in Acute Care who is a proficient clinician with extensive experience in patient care. This role requires a solid understanding of specific patient populations and the ability to apply acquired knowledge, theory, research, and experience to adapt to clinical changes. The RN will:

- Communicate consistently, effectively, and respectfully with patients, their families, and healthcare team members while delivering safe and reliable care independently using the nursing process.
- Exhibit advanced assessment skills and understand the influence of nursing care on patient outcomes.
- Accurately document the nursing process in the appropriate formats (e.g., electronic records, clinical pathways, charts) and independently plan and implement patient care.
- Incorporate patient and family input in care planning, manage time efficiently, and integrate the AACN Synergy Model into clinical practice, identifying the need to revise policies and procedures based on evidence-based research.
- Achieve points and contact hours as outlined in the clinical lattice point system to maintain the position.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must hold a valid, active, unencumbered Nursing license or a temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board. Candidates should be graduates of an accredited nursing program with at least 12 months of recent nursing experience within the past five years or have recently completed a re-entry nursing program.

BLS certification is required, and ACLS certification may be necessary in designated departments.
