Aptive Resources is in search of skilled Medical/Surgical Registered Nurses (RNs) to deliver exceptional care to patients undergoing acute medical or surgical treatments. The RN will operate both autonomously and under the supervision of the Nurse Manager or designated personnel, employing a comprehensive approach to patient care.
Work Schedule:
Nurses will be expected to work shifts of eight (8), ten (10), or twelve (12) hours, including rotating weekends and holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
- Evaluate and attend to patients with a variety of physical and psychological conditions.
- Provide care for patients requiring special precautions, including those in isolation.
- Manage patient care assignments for a designated group, ensuring thorough care.
- Administer medications (oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous) and blood products.
- Execute complex wound dressing care and maintenance.
- Deliver care for COVID-19 positive patients and Patients Under Investigation (PUI) for COVID-19.
Diagnostic and Therapeutic Procedures:
- Insert and maintain peripheral intravenous lines.
- Manage central lines for intravenous fluid administration.
- Conduct phlebotomy and bedside testing.
- Provide emergency care as necessary.
Documentation and Communication:
- Confirm physician orders.
- Accurately document care in accordance with facility and unit policies.
- Offer psychological support to patients as required.
Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Collaborate closely with the healthcare team to fulfill patient care needs.
- Engage with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Licensure: Current, unrestricted RN license from any state in the United States.
- Certification: Current CPR/BLS certification accredited by the American Heart Association.
- Experience: At least three (3) years of recent experience in an acute care, medical/surgical unit within an urban, academic medical center, excluding agency assignments. Must have worked within the last six (6) months in the specified settings.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or a related field; however, an associate degree or diploma level is acceptable with a valid license and current experience.
- Graduate of a professional nursing program accredited by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and recognized by ACEN, CCNE, or ANCC.
- Strong clinical skills in acute care environments.
- Proficient in the insertion and maintenance of peripheral and central lines.
- Skilled in medication administration and complex wound care.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
- Able to provide psychological support and manage emergency situations effectively.
- Team-oriented with a focus on collaborative patient care.
- Capable of completing and passing any required government background checks.
