Position Description

Our unit specializes in the care of patients with stroke and other neurological conditions, as well as low-risk cardiac patients and those with various medical issues. Nurses in our team are required to obtain certifications such as BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS to effectively manage this patient demographic. We operate a 24-bed unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6, and we have an active unit practice council. A dedicated Nurse Educator and an Education Coordinator are available for support as needed.

Key Responsibilities

We are looking for a Registered Nurse in Acute Care who is a skilled clinician with extensive experience in patient care. This professional will utilize their knowledge, research, and clinical experience to adapt to changing patient needs. The ideal candidate will:

- Communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, families, and healthcare team members while delivering safe and reliable care independently using the nursing process.
- Exhibit strong assessment skills and understand the impact of nursing interventions on patient outcomes.
- Accurately document the nursing process in the appropriate formats (e.g., electronic health records, clinical pathways) and independently plan and implement patient care.
- Incorporate patient and family input into care planning while managing time efficiently and applying the AACN Synergy Model in clinical practice, including revising policies based on evidence-based research.
- Achieve required points and contact hours as outlined in the clinical lattice point system to maintain the position.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must be graduates of an accredited nursing program with at least 12 months of recent nursing experience within the last five years or have recently completed a re-entry nursing program. A valid, active, unencumbered Nursing license or a temporary permit approved by the relevant licensing board is required. BLS certification is mandatory, and ACLS certification may be necessary in designated departments.
