Outdoor Experience Manager

The Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Outdoor Experience Manager to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for developing, retaining, and increasing girl and adult membership through engaging and dynamic outdoor programming.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement outdoor experience programming in assigned communities, including weekend and overnight programming.
- Recruit, train, and manage seasonal camp staff and year-round staff.
- Coordinate services of program and site vendors, including food, supplies, and program providers.
- Develop and deliver program activities for assigned camps, program sites, and geographic regions.
- Build and maintain partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and interest groups to enhance program offerings.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development to seasonal staff to ensure measurable goals and accountabilities are set and achieved.
- Provide program support, development, and training to members and troops in assigned areas.
- Serve as an expert resource for staff and volunteers on the Girl Scout Leadership Experience program model.
- Establish and manage proactive risk management practices to ensure safety within the camp experience and environment.
- Conduct program evaluations and develop a quantifiable evaluation process to report to senior leadership.
- Design and implement an outdoor experience marketing plan to meet attendance goals and maximize attendance.
- Manage the budget for assigned programs, camps, and sites, and participate in the development of the budget.
- Manage the ACA accreditation process and ensure assigned program sites meet or exceed evaluation criteria.
- Engage cross-functionally with teammates to support annual council membership recruitment and retention plans.
- Perform other duties as necessary or assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in recreation, education, non-profit management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of two years of demonstrated experience in youth program development and management of camp programs, including supervision of employed staff.
- Demonstrated competency in community organizing, planning, time management, and problem-solving/conflict management.
- Willingness and ability to work regular and varied hours, including some evenings and most weekends, and to live on-site during the summer camp season.
- ACA Standards Visitor status or willingness to obtain, and certification in or ability to become certified in first aid and one or more of the following: lifeguard instructor, archery instructor, boating and climbing.
- Experience overseeing seasonal food service staff and health staff.
