Job Overview

Position Summary: Responsible for preparing materials and equipment for distribution. Ensure all necessary documentation is completed accurately. Conduct inspections to guarantee that outgoing shipments adhere to quality standards for both products and packaging.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare materials and equipment for dispatch according to shipping orders, which may involve handling, storing, and cutting materials as required.
  • Inspect outgoing shipments to confirm compliance with shipping orders and ensure protection against potential damage.
  • Complete all necessary shipping documentation, including air waybills, bills of lading, shipper's letters of instructions, and certificates of conformance.
  • Manage and oversee the inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Process equipment and materials for future shipment staging.
  • Operate forklifts to transport shipments from the shipping and receiving area to storage or other designated workspaces.

Supervisory Role: This position does not entail supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience: A high school diploma or GED is required, along with one to four years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Familiarity with state, federal, FAA, and international shipping regulations and customs documentation is essential. Forklift operation skills are required. IATA Dangerous Goods Certification may be obtained during employment if necessary. Knowledge of AS9120 or AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards is preferred.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in using personal computers and word processing software, along with typing skills, is necessary.

Language Proficiency:

Ability to read and understand work instructions, correspondence, and memos. Capable of writing clear instructions and effectively communicating information to delivery drivers, freight forwarding companies, employees, and management.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to apply basic arithmetic and algebra concepts to convert measurements and weights.

Reasoning Skills:

Ability to apply common sense to follow written or verbal instructions. Capable of solving practical problems and managing various concrete variables.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands for handling and manipulating materials; reach with hands and arms; and maintain average hand-eye coordination. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must also be able to walk, stand, balance, sit for extended periods, speak clearly, and hear. Regular physical activities include stooping, kneeling, reaching, bending, twisting, and crouching. The employee must be able to lift and move weights of up to 45 pounds.
