This position is essential for ensuring the safety and efficiency of air traffic operations.

Position Details

The role is responsible for implementing established protocols and terminology, utilizing all relevant manuals and guidelines to achieve the following:

Comprehensive Preflight Pilot Briefing services, delivering essential summarized and analyzed meteorological and aeronautical information required by pilots.

Provision of extensive inflight services to aircraft, which includes maintaining communication watch, briefing, emergency response, search and rescue operations, processing pilot weather reports, position updates, Special Visual Flight Rules (SVFR) management, clearance communication, and local airport advisories as necessary. Broadcast services are conducted via telephone, radio, or navigational aids.

Management of Flight Data and Notices to Airmen (NOTAM) services, which involves the relay of flight plans, search and rescue communications, weather updates, and other required transmissions.

Monitoring of incoming flights and initiation of search and rescue protocols for overdue aircraft.

Weather Observation duties (if required) - executing observer responsibilities or supporting automated weather systems.

Provision of training to facility personnel as necessary.

When designated, acts as Controller-in-Charge, overseeing the continuous operation of a facility in the absence of a supervisor.

Employment Conditions

  • Drug testing is a requirement.
  • Possession of a current or previously held facility rating is necessary.
  • This position is classified as Moderate Risk; a background investigation may be conducted.
  • This role is subject to mandatory separation at a specified age.
  • This position qualifies for early retirement under specific legislation.
Qualifications

To be eligible for this position, applicants must demonstrate specialized experience equivalent to a specified level. This experience must be in an air traffic facility and showcase the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for the responsibilities of the advertised role.

Applicants must possess a facility rating or have previously held a rating in a Flight Service Station (FSS). Clear indication of this rating must be included in the application package.

In addition to the minimum qualifications, the following is essential for this position:
  • Do you currently hold or have you ever held a facility rating issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)?
Applicants should provide examples of specialized experience in their work history.

Qualification requirements must be satisfied by the closing date of the announcement.
