We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Power Line Specialist to join our team at the City Of Ketchikan. As a key member of our Electric Division, you will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of electrical power lines and equipment of all voltages.
Key Responsibilities- Dig, set, and frame transmission and distribution poles, including making hot sets into voltages up to 115,000 volts.
- String primary conductors through energized circuits of voltages up to 115,000 volts in overhead and underground construction, operation, and maintenance on distribution and transmission lines.
- Transfer conductors, devices, and apparatus of voltages up to 115,000 volts.
- Operate equipment normally associated with the construction and maintenance of transmission and distribution lines, including boom trucks, bucket trucks, and backhoes.
- Climb utility poles and steel structures.
- Install and maintain 3-phase transformers.
- Install and maintain both primary and secondary underground circuits.
- Install proper grounds while working on de-energized transmission and distribution circuits.
- Climb and perform work on wood poles using climbing hooks and belts.
- Perform related duties as required.
- Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade and successful completion of an indentured apprenticeship program.
- Two years of increasingly responsible electric utility maintenance experience.
- Possession of a valid Commercial Drivers License.
- Possession of a State of Alaska Journeyman Lineman Certificate of Fitness.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Forklift Operator certification.
The work environment is fast-paced and requires the ability to work in a field environment, travel from site to site, and work underground or on overhead power lines. The employee must be able to climb power poles and operate motorized equipment and vehicles. The employee must also be able to work in inclement weather conditions, noise, dust, and gases.
