The Senior Vice President of Financial Operations will oversee all daily accounting functions and hold primary accountability for the management of comprehensive accounting practices, financial controls, and reporting. This role will collaborate closely with program leaders and their teams to enhance understanding of accounting protocols while exploring how financial strategies can bolster program efficiency and expansion.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the daily operations of accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, cash management, taxation, and grant administration. Ensure adherence to program and regulatory standards, policies, and organizational objectives.
- Oversee grant accounting, billing, and tracking alongside traditional accounting functions such as general ledger management, payroll, and tax compliance.
- Design, implement, and maintain systems, processes, and controls to ensure an effective control environment, producing timely and accurate financial reports.
- Lead the coordination of annual external audits, including retirement plan audits and compliance filings with regulatory bodies.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP standards and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Guarantee timely month-end closing processes and oversee the preparation of financial reports, including key performance metrics.
- Utilize information systems, including a cloud-based ERP, to enhance reporting capabilities, providing organizational leaders with real-time data for informed decision-making.
- Establish and uphold internal controls for financial reporting, revenue receipt, budget management, and expenditure tracking.
- Ensure monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, promptly addressing any discrepancies.
- Lead financial audits and oversee additional agency audits as required.
- Present financial statements accurately and in a timely manner, keeping senior leadership informed of the organization's financial health.
- Support the CFO in engaging with the board's audit and finance committee regarding financial trends and operational models.
- Manage all project and grant accounting, ensuring expenditures align with budgetary constraints throughout the funding period.
- Responsible for monthly reporting on grant expenditures to relevant stakeholders.
- Coordinate the preparation and reconciliation of various accounting records and reports for regulatory submissions.
- Assist the Financial Planning & Analysis team in the annual budgeting process and financial forecasting.
- Prepare compliance reports for bank covenants and ensure timely debt payments.
- Maintain situational awareness to identify opportunities and mitigate financial risks.
- Supervise, mentor, and train accounting department staff, fostering a positive and supportive work environment.
- Enhance internal communication across all organizational levels to promote collaboration and teamwork.
- Adhere to ethical standards and corporate compliance regulations.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Social Work, Psychology, Education, Public Health, or a related field.
- Proven experience in advancing workforce development initiatives within non-profit and governmental sectors.
- A minimum of five years of demonstrated leadership experience.
- Familiarity with educational, governmental, and social service programs relevant to mission delivery.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to compile data and generate reports.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Exceptional organizational, problem-solving, and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse populations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of working with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical conduct in all professional interactions.
- Ability to positively represent the organization to mission-related agencies and the business community.
- Experience interacting with individuals with disabilities in a respectful and dignified manner.
Physical Requirements
- Extended periods of sitting at a desk and using a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
- Frequent walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and talking or hearing are required.
- Ability to manage moderate stress levels is essential. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
