We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Government Affairs Professional to join our team at the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO). As a key member of our Government Affairs team, you will play a critical role in advancing our legislative and policy priorities.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct in-depth research on legislative and policy issues affecting local public health
- Monitor and attend Congressional hearings and briefings to stay up-to-date on the latest developments
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including Congressional staff and other government officials
- Assist in the development of internal and external communications, including publications, electronic newsletters, and website updates
- Support the Government Affairs team in advancing policy priorities through various tasks, including data entry and form submissions, meeting preparation, and policy initiative tracking
- Master's or Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as political science, public policy, public administration, or public health
- Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Basic knowledge of the legislative process and a genuine interest in advancing local public health policy at the federal level
- Ability to multitask while maintaining strong attention to detail
- Ability to take initiative and work independently, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
