Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our team at the University of Kansas Medical Center. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to investigate the role of spared brain regions on functional motor recovery after acquired brain injury using animal models.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research on brain connectivity patterns using chronic neuronal recording techniques in behaving animals.
  • Assist in behavioral training of animals.
  • Prepare written and oral reports on research progress and participate in the preparation of manuscripts for publication.
  • Perform collaborative studies with other research laboratories at KUMC.
  • Actively apply for Postdoctoral Fellowship funding from various sponsors.
  • Assist in training other postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and research assistants in techniques used for investigation of brain connectivity.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.
Requirements
  • PhD in Neuroscience, Computer Science, Bioengineering, Physiology, or related fields.
  • Experience with research involving animals.
  • Animal Behavior training and testing.
  • Single unit neurophysiology data acquisition and analysis.
  • Highly motivated to learn, assertive, detail oriented, organized, can prioritize multiple tasks and work independently.
  • Sound judgement, strong analytical skills, and exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with Matlab and other quantitative laboratory tools.

Compensation

The pay range for this position is $47,476.00 - $80,000.00 per year, with a midpoint of $66,000.00.
