Postdoctoral Fellow

Job Summary:

The University of Kansas Medical Center is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral trainee to join the Del Rio Lab. The successful candidate will be trained in state-of-the-art physiological experiments, including in-vivo optogenetics and chemogenetics manipulation, in-vivo and in-vitro electrophysiology, brain-targeted microinjection for gene and drug delivery, confocal microscopy imaging, and molecular biology of signaling pathways.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and perform experiments, analyze data, and interpret results.
  • Conduct patch-clamp recordings from adult rodent slice preparations, sympathetic nerve activity recordings, whole body plethysmography, and BP telemetry.
  • Lead knowledge dissemination through manuscript preparation and internal/external data presentations.
  • Assist in the development of external funding applications.
Requirements:
  • PhD in Cell Physiology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field.
  • Experience in in-situ and in-vivo electrophysiology, molecular and cellular biology.
  • Strong background in patch-clamp electrophysiological recordings in tissue slices and whole animal cardiorespiratory monitoring.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PhD with a focus on cardiorespiratory physiology and prior experience in neural control of autonomic and breathing function.
  • Previous research experience in pre-clinical cardiorespiratory monitoring and electrophysiological recordings.
  • Experience with in-vivo optogenetics and chemogenetics manipulation, and brain-targeted microinjections.

Compensation:

The pay range for this position is $47,476.00 to $80,000.00 per year, with a midpoint of $66,000.00.
