Job Title: Postdoctoral Fellow- Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Postdoctoral Fellow to join our team at the University of Kansas Medical Center. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to investigate the role of spared brain regions on functional motor recovery after acquired brain injury (stroke, traumatic brain injury) utilizing animal models.

Job Summary:

This is a time-limited appointment, the primary purpose of which is to provide research and/or scholarly training for an academic or research career. The Postdoctoral Fellow will participate in a full-time regimen of advanced training and research, train under the supervision of a faculty research mentor, and promote publication of findings and preparation of research grants.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research on brain connectivity patterns using chronic neuronal recording techniques in behaving animals.
  • Assist in behavioral training of animals.
  • Prepare written and oral reports on research progress and participate in the preparation of manuscripts for publication.
  • Perform collaborative studies with other research laboratories at KUMC.
  • Actively apply for Postdoctoral Fellowship funding from various sponsors.
  • Assist in training other postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and research assistants in techniques used for investigation of brain connectivity.
Requirements:
  • PhD in Neuroscience, Computer Science, Bioengineering, Physiology, or related fields.
  • Experience with research involving animals.
  • Animal Behavior training and testing.
  • Single unit neurophysiology data acquisition and analysis.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Highly motivated to learn, assertive, detail oriented, organized, and able to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently.
  • Sound judgement, strong analytical skills, and exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with Matlab and other quantitative laboratory tools.

Compensation:

The pay range for this position is $47,476.00 to $80,000.00 per year, with a midpoint of $66,000.00.
