Tax Manager

Compensation:

Salary Range: From $115,000 to $150,000 annually (commensurate with experience)

Position Type: Full-Time Exempt

In accordance with applicable compensation laws, salary variations for this role are determined by education, experience, training, and geographic location, as well as our internal seniority and merit systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations while effectively managing tax liabilities, in line with company policies and professional standards.
  • Oversee comprehensive reviews of tax returns, addressing tax-related issues with clients and engaging specialists as necessary.
  • Communicate tax accrual review concerns with clients and relevant departments.
  • Plan and assess tax-related processes and procedures, including budgeting and staffing considerations.
  • Monitor project engagement and actual time spent versus budget with the support of senior staff.
  • Ensure timely invoicing and manage additional activities outside the scope of the project, maintaining clear communication with clients.
  • Manage client relationships and expectations in accordance with project requirements.
  • Provide prompt advice and guidance to clients.
  • Identify research needs and deliver thorough analysis.
  • Apply professional standards for tax advice and tax return preparation.
  • Engage firm specialists as needed.
  • Assist in developing effective strategies to minimize clients' current and future tax obligations.
  • Serve as a technical resource and ensure adherence to company policies.
  • Frame projects and issues for effective delegation to senior staff and associates.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of technical and practical matters in specific taxation areas.
  • Organize and lead internal training sessions in areas of specialization, involving firm specialists.
  • Introduce and cultivate innovative ideas to enhance clients' financial positions.
  • Review tax implications studies and propose alternative strategies.
  • Identify and utilize lessons learned from previous projects to enhance processes and methodologies.
  • Supervise Tax Staff and Senior Tax Staff on all assignments.
  • Review work produced by Tax Staff and Senior Tax Staff, providing constructive feedback.
  • Train Tax Staff and Senior Tax Staff on current software tools.
  • Act as a Career Advisor, managing workloads and providing performance evaluations.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required; an MBA or Master's in Accountancy is preferred.
  • A minimum of eight years of relevant tax experience.
  • CPA or EA certification is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of tax compliance and consulting principles.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong ability to collaborate within a team.
  • Professional communication and documentation skills.
