Position: Senior Tax Consultant
Compensation:
Hourly Rate: Ranges from $34.00 to $40.80 (commensurate with experience)
Annual earnings can be estimated based on approximately 2,300 hours worked annually.
Example Calculation:
2,080 hours (40 hours per week * 52 weeks) at $34.00 = $70,720.00 annually
220 overtime hours at time and a half ($51.00) = $11,220.00 annually
Total Estimated Annual Compensation based on 2,300 hours: $81,940.00 annually
Employment Type: Full-Time Non-Exempt
In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay Act, compensation differentials for this role are determined by education, experience, training, geographic location, and DWC's seniority and merit systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations while optimizing tax obligations and adhering to firm standards.
- Oversee engagements, setting clear expectations and providing direction to Tax staff.
- Perform thorough reviews of basic tax returns, identifying potential tax challenges and discrepancies.
- Meet both internal and client deadlines, delivering timely and high-quality tax services.
- Conduct research on tax matters, analyze results, and communicate findings effectively.
- Assist in creating efficient strategies to maximize client benefits and minimize tax liabilities.
- Identify consulting opportunities to improve clients' tax positions.
- Accurately document significant tax positions in line with firm and office policies.
- Introduce and cultivate innovative strategies to enhance clients' financial standings.
- Mentor and support Staff Accountants, promoting a culture of knowledge sharing and professional growth.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required; MBA or Master of Accountancy is preferred.
- A minimum of two years of experience in public accounting.
- CPA certification or progress towards certification is preferred.
- Familiarity with tax compliance and consulting principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Attention to detail and ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
