What you'll do:
The Principal Engineer within the Innovations (Gen AI) division is responsible for defining and implementing strategies related to AI engineering and development, aligning with the bank's AI vision to support its products, services, and objectives. This role is pivotal in shaping our AI strategy and demonstrating the value and return on investment through early-stage solutions. It presents an opportunity to leverage emerging trends and technologies to make a significant impact. This position involves hands-on development of Proof of Concepts (PoC) and pilot projects, while also engaging with various stakeholders across the organization to build and execute a pipeline of AI initiatives and enhance the AI program. Active collaboration with both business and technical stakeholders is essential, along with a solid understanding of banking products and services. We seek a driven, self-motivated individual with a passion for new technologies, who is eager to learn and conduct research to stay abreast of advancements in the AI and machine learning fields. The role involves close collaboration with architects, data scientists, data stewards, product managers, and other stakeholders to design, develop, and deploy AI-driven solutions that enhance our offerings.

What we are looking for:

Responsibilities:
  • Analyze business processes and capabilities across various segments to apply innovative solutions leveraging Generative AI for business value.
  • Design, develop, and implement AI programs primarily utilizing Azure services, focusing on Generative AI.
  • Evaluate and select suitable AI tools and models for tasks, building and training operational versions of those models using Azure services and OpenAI technologies.
  • Understand the bank's data environment and ecosystem; select appropriate datasets and data representation methods to support AI initiatives.
  • Curate and construct AI pipelines, conduct machine learning tests, and implement programs to identify model drifts while ensuring risk controls are in place.
  • Stay informed about the latest market trends in AI and assess their potential impact on the enterprise and existing processes.
  • Facilitate the evaluation and selection of PoC/Pilot candidates, comparing the usage of different Generative AI models across various modalities.
  • Monitor the current solution portfolio to identify potential candidates for Generative AI enhancement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and define AI project requirements and objectives, ensuring alignment with overall business goals.
  • Promote and support efforts to transition delivery functions towards Agile and DevOps/FinOps models.
  • Contribute to establishing best practices and standards for Generative AI development within the organization.
Qualifications:

Required:
  • 10 years of experience in information technology, with at least 3 years in application design and delivery. Knowledge of Financial Services is advantageous.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, system analysis, or a related field, or equivalent experience. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Strong software development and design background with a technology upbringing.
  • Full stack development experience with recent implementation of LLM Models and/or predictive AI/Generative AI.
  • Proficient in Prompt Engineering and Azure services such as Azure AI Search, Azure Open AI, Azure Functions, and App Services, particularly in the context of AI application development.
  • Strong understanding of data, databases, and data structures, including structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
  • Deep knowledge of strategic and emerging technology trends, and their practical application to evolving business and operational models.
  • Familiarity with agile principles and development methodologies; understanding of Azure DevOps.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a capacity for critical and creative thinking to develop innovative AI solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; capable of developing content for and engaging with various architecture, engineering, and scrum teams.
  • Ability to build trust and respect as a thought leader who can influence and persuade business and IT leaders and development teams.
  • 'Enterprise First' mindset with decisions based on data, analysis, and PoC results.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and lead cross-functional teams.
Preferred:
  • Experience in Generative AI implementation with expertise in Azure technologies and services such as Azure AI Search, Co-Pilots, and Azure OpenAI.
  • Good understanding of Prompt Engineering.
  • Knowledge of various LLM models in the market and their applicability.
