GENERAL OVERVIEW:

At Fifth Third Bank, our Audit Division plays a crucial role in delivering independent and objective assurance for the Bank's essential business operations, products, services, and technologies. We are committed to governance, oversight, and monitoring functions that support management and operational integrity.

The Senior Audit Associate is tasked with conducting comprehensive audits across various business and functional areas within the Capital Markets sector. This includes evaluating operations, finance, accounting, product development, and technology governance.

Audits are executed collaboratively under the supervision of the Audit Manager, ensuring adherence to established standards throughout the process.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


1. Execute all phases of audit activities, including planning, testing, reporting, and closure, in alignment with the Audit Division's methodologies and timelines.

2. Collaborate with team members to strategize audit projects, formulate risk and control assessments, and create work programs and deliverables.

3. Lead the audit team in documenting business processes and technology management related to the audited entity, while assessing the effectiveness of controls in place.

4. Exhibit strong project management capabilities by overseeing daily fieldwork progress, keeping managers and clients informed, and supervising staff performance as needed.

5. Utilize knowledge of risk and control concepts to identify deficiencies and propose process improvements, while leading follow-up activities on audit issues.

6. Draft audit reports, ensuring comprehensive coverage of all audit processes and results in accordance with defined standards.

7. Maintain open communication with management through regular updates, presentations, and internal audit reports.

8. Ensure compliance with Fifth Third Audit methodology and mentor team members in understanding Audit Standards.

9. Build and sustain relationships with peers and management across business lines to foster effective workflows and communication.

10. Contribute to the identification and ongoing monitoring of risks and potential exposures to the organization.

11. Drive personal career development by understanding performance expectations and actively seeking feedback.

12. Stay informed on industry trends and emerging issues to enhance the Bank's risk-based audit program.

13. Participate in departmental initiatives aimed at employee development and continuous improvement of the audit function.

14. Share knowledge and collaborate with team members to promote learning and knowledge sharing.

15. Perform additional duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY ROLE:

Begin to lead and develop junior auditors to ensure optimal performance in achieving the Audit Division's objectives. Assist in the professional growth of peers and staff through mentoring and educational programs that enhance their understanding of audit processes and business acumen.

QUALIFICATIONS:

2-3 years of experience in audit within Fifth Third or a large public accounting firm, or 3-4 years of general industry audit experience is required. Experience in capital markets or financial services is preferred.

A Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Data Analytics, Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications such as CPA or CIA are advantageous.

Proficiency in MS-Windows and related applications is essential. Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary, along with demonstrated leadership, coaching, and project management abilities.

Ability to thrive in a team environment while maintaining professionalism in a dynamic setting is crucial. Candidates must be results-oriented, exhibit sound judgment, and apply logical thinking in developing business solutions.

Maintaining independence and objectivity in all aspects of the role is imperative.
