About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Leadperson Mechanical Assembly to join our team at Powell Industries. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will be responsible for leading and mentoring a team of assembly technicians to ensure the efficient and effective production of our products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Train and Develop Team Members: Provide on-the-job training and coaching to new employees to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
  • Communicate and Delegate: Communicate daily priorities and tasks to team members and delegate responsibilities as needed to ensure efficient production.
  • Quality Assurance: Release jobs to quality control and ensure that all products meet our high standards of quality.
  • Purchase Requisitions and Inventory Management: Write purchase requisitions and order parts as needed to ensure that our inventory levels are adequate.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead and mentor 6S and continuous improvement projects, including Kaizen events, to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Quality Initiatives: Lead quality initiatives and ensure that all team members are aware of and follow our quality policies and procedures.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicate effectively with team members, other departments, and external stakeholders to resolve issues and drive timely completion of jobs.
  • Review and Analysis: Review bill of materials and drawings for issues and identify areas for improvement.
  • Training and Development: Assist in the development of training plans and identify training needs for the team.
  • Productivity and Efficiency: Assist in tracking job efficiency and productivity and identify areas for improvement.
  • Employee Evaluation: Assist in the employee evaluation process and provide feedback to team members.
  • Safety and Quality Meetings: Lead safety and quality meetings to ensure that all team members are aware of and follow our safety and quality policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or General Education Equivalent Diploma.
  • Experience: 8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of system software (i.e. Oracle, MES, True View) to look up parts and drawings, ability to lift up to 50lbs using proper lifting techniques, and knowledge of mechanical drawings and designs.
