Position Overview:
The Lead Sales Strategist is chiefly accountable for achieving or surpassing team sales objectives by attracting and nurturing a high-caliber sales workforce, establishing clear benchmarks, and ensuring accountability among team members. This role involves directing sales initiatives towards specific customer segments, enhancing sales from both existing clients and new prospects.
The Lead Sales Strategist actively engages in customer-centric events, supervises the management of sales leaders, and oversees the forecasting and administration of sales and expense budgets.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Business Development:
Build, guide, and mentor the OEM/Key Account sales division.
Foster a customer-centric and results-driven high-performance culture across all commercial teams.
Formulate and implement effective short- and long-term business strategies for expanding OEM and Key Accounts, informed by customer feedback, competitive analysis, and market dynamics.
Assess industry and market trends for potential implications; pinpoint key opportunities and challenges within the sector.
Exhibit creative problem-solving skills; identify growth prospects in the marketplace and coordinate all cross-functional teams by crafting, articulating, and executing the strategic plan. Analyze actual financial performance against forecasts/budgets with the aim of exceeding set targets.
Implement robust recruiting, staffing, employee development, performance management, and succession planning initiatives.
Maintain and strengthen customer relationships, focusing on key decision-makers and influencers.
Design and execute sales training resources and methodologies.
Performance Metrics & Reporting:
Contribute to the annual forecasting/budgeting process by generating market forecasts and tracking monthly progress against sales forecasts/budgets.
Instill operational rigor and discipline in forecasting, sales processes, and ongoing commercial enhancements.
Oversee the implementation and execution of sales policies, commission structures, and annual sales targets.
Accountable for both short- and long-term growth and profitability.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
MBA is preferred.
A minimum of 10 years of sales experience, including 5 years in a leadership role within custom-engineered solutions for industrial or utility sectors.
Demonstrated success in sales and in cultivating long-term relationships with key clients.
Ability to think strategically, synthesize complex business and financial data, and develop innovative solutions promptly.
Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving capabilities; adept at making informed, fact-based decisions using relevant information.
A commitment to driving organizational change, reviewing processes and capabilities, recognizing talent, and developing potential future leaders.
Experience with CRM systems, including maximizing their utility and managing the sales team's engagement with these tools.
Exceptional presentation and influencing skills, both internally and externally.
Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
Proficiency in MS PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and database applications.
Experience in a leadership capacity within a private equity-owned organization is highly desirable.
Willingness to travel up to 50% as required.
