Position Summary:
The Safety Operations Leader will spearhead safety initiatives across various disciplines, overseeing a team of safety experts in the field and collaborating closely with the Safety Director. This role requires extensive travel, approximately 75%, to ensure the effective implementation and compliance with safety protocols across multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive safety support to management and field operations at various levels.
- Conduct regular field safety evaluations to foster a People First Culture and ensure adherence to all relevant regulations.
- Provide strategic advice on the planning, development, and management of the Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Program.
- Lead or assist in incident investigations in partnership with the Safety Director, focusing on significant occurrences to identify root causes and implement preventive strategies.
- Establish and nurture relationships with clients through effective communication, aligning safety practices with their expectations.
- Facilitate safety meetings with senior leadership and safety team members, promoting ongoing enhancements to safety protocols.
- Support the professional growth of safety team members, ensuring they have the requisite skills and knowledge.
- Manage the distribution of safety personnel across projects to guarantee thorough coverage and support.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Safety Management or a related field is required.
- Certification as a Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals is mandatory.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in construction safety, with a strong preference for candidates demonstrating leadership capabilities.
- Exceptional communication skills, both upward and downward within the organizational structure.
- Strong planning, organizational, and personnel management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications, Bluebeam, and similar software.
