Job SummaryWe're seeking a highly experienced Power Delivery Substation Section Manager to join our growing Southeast Power Delivery team in Orlando, FL. This role requires a strong technical background in substation design, including both indoor and outdoor experience. The successful candidate will manage and execute engineering and design components of projects, lead and advise clients, projects, and teams, and support the growth of a Substation team.
Key Responsibilities- Manage key technical aspects for substation physical project deliverables, including one-line, three-line, general arrangement, elevations, foundation plan, grounding plan, conduit plan, conduit and cable schedules, bill of materials, SPCC plan, lightning studies, lighting studies, and grounding studies.
- Manage key technical aspects for substation protection and control deliverables, including protection one-lines, three-lines, AC schematics, DC schematics, SCADA diagrams, wiring diagrams, battery and charger sizing studies, and CT saturation studies.
- Monitor and participate in the execution of HDR's portfolio of Power Delivery services throughout the South Atlantic (NC/SC/GA) Area.
- Manage key projects or programs, including managing technical staff and sub-consultant teams to meet project delivery needs and exceed client expectations.
- Participate in power delivery marketing efforts, communications, and client development with business, operations, marketing, and project staff to maximize client satisfaction, company growth, and profitability.
- Work with local and regional operations and national leadership to build capabilities through recruitment and staff training.
- Assist with development of technical papers and presentations that showcase HDR's capabilities and industry experience.
- Responsible for quality control reviews in accordance with HDR's policy.
- Plan and manage all aspects of small to medium single-discipline planning projects or large, routine projects.
- Independently coordinate work of engineers and balance planning team throughout entire project's development.
- Coordinate workload throughout entire project development, and ensure completion of documents on schedule.
- Track financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust work efforts with the team to ensure that work is completed within parameters of agreed-to schedules.
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline.
- A minimum of 10 years of management experience.
- Substation design experience, including both indoor and outdoor experience.
- Strong communication and listening skills.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments.
- Good leadership and organizational skills.
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or other Engineering Degree.
- Professional Engineering License.
