Job Title: Substation Electrician II

Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC) is seeking a highly skilled Substation Electrician II to join our team. As a key member of our Transmission, Substation, System Protection division, you will play a critical role in maintaining the reliability and efficiency of our substation equipment.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a qualified professional with multi-person crew experience to perform maintenance and testing of all substation equipment. Strong troubleshooting skills are essential to be successful in this role. In this position, you will assist crew members in performing High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) switching activities, ensuring that all safety protocols are followed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist crew members in maintaining and testing substation equipment under the direction of an Electrician I or Lead Electrician.
  • Perform HV and LV switching activities under supervision, ensuring the safety of yourself and others.
  • Review job assignments and safety procedures each morning with the Electrician I or Lead Electrician.
  • Assist in preparing vehicles for next assignments, ensuring that all necessary tools and equipment are available.
  • Help ensure that all job-related equipment needs are met, including tools, trucks, and parts.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of four (4) years' experience in substation construction, maintenance, and testing or two (2) years as an OUC Substation Electrician III and 6 months as OUC Substation Apprentice Electrician.
  • Must possess a current and valid Florida Driver's License.
  • Class A CDL (required), tanker endorsement (preferred).
Working Conditions:

This job involves exposure to extreme weather conditions and occasionally noxious fumes, insects, heights (upwards of 150 ft), confined spaces, and excessive noise. Participate in the supervisory call out for substation equipment and other emergencies.

Physical Requirements:

This job involves Very Frequent standing, walking, lifting up to 20 lbs, typing, speaking & hearing, and may involve very frequent detailed inspection, writing. This job may involve frequent sitting and lifting between 21 and 40 lbs. This job may involve occasional bending/stooping, pushing, pulling, and/or digging, reaching over head, kneeling, crawling, and climbing (ladders, stairs, hills etc.). This job involves very frequent driving of a company vehicle.
