We are seeking a highly skilled Substation Electrical Engineer to join our team at WSP. As a key member of our Energy Team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality substation designs for our projects.
Key Responsibilities- Design efficient and reliable high voltage substations
- Work under the leadership of a Supervising Engineer
- Coordinate design activities to maintain project schedules and ensure successful project completion
- Assist the Estimating Team in preparation of estimates and project proposals
- Prepare substation plan and profile view, grounding, lightning protection, lighting, cable trench, cable trays, conduit layout and detail installation drawings
- Prepare studies and design calculations such as load flow, short circuit, Arc Flash, grounding, TOV, EMF, transformer sizing, cable sizing etc. using software including WinIGS, ETAP, SKM, CDEGS, CYMCAP
- Provide input into improvement ideas during project execution and close-out
- Prepare technical specifications for the electrical equipment, evaluate proposals from vendors, and review vendor drawings
- Deliver accurate and thorough designs that will meet industry standards and specifications, and meet good engineering practice with excellent constructability
- Resolving site queries, attending site meetings and performing site inspections during the construction phase of projects
- Maintaining complete project documentation with respect to substation design and construction, including all completion packages, as-built requirements and return data information
- A degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution
- 3-5 years of working experience in high-voltage substation design for renewable developers and electrical utility clients
- Eligible for P.E. licensing
- Possess exceptional communication skills (client relations, project team communications, and proposal and report development)
