Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our team at Jackson Hospital. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and physicians.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine nursing functions and diagnostic procedures to support medical plans of care
  • Escort patients to exam rooms, collect vital signs, and perform other health maintenance tasks
  • Draw blood for lab procedures, perform EKGs, and x-rays as ordered by physicians
  • Administer injections, prepare patients for examinations, and assist with minor surgery and laceration repairs
  • Record and review prescribed medications, assist with medication administration, and fulfill prescription refill requests electronically
  • Maintain open communication with nurses, physicians, and supervisors, and perform all skills on competency skill checklist
  • Initiate, maintain, and perform patient education, and attain all clinical documentation for referrals and prior authorizations
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred
  • Previous work experience in a physician's office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, good telephone etiquette, and customer relations skills
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods, manual dexterity, and visual acuity to utilize PC and calculator
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPT and ICD-Coding, computer, electronic medical record, and practice management software experience
  • X-ray, venipuncture, EKG, laboratory equipment, and CLIA waived tests experience
