Job Summary

Cedar Fair is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance to join our team at Carowinds. As a key member of our maintenance and construction department, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily maintenance of park facilities, rides, and attractions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Employee Performance Management: Manage employee performance, provide training, coaching, and counseling, and address employee problems within company policies.
  • Maintenance Operations: Oversee and participate in the selection, training, scheduling, and supervision of maintenance employees, ensuring they are knowledgeable of and proficient in proper procedures, including safety issues.
  • Communication and Reporting: Communicate division status to the Vice President and General Manager on an ongoing basis, including operational issues, employee concerns, guest complaints, and special requests.
  • Long-Term Construction Planning: Participate in long-term construction planning for new park projects, oversee all construction projects, negotiate contracts, and coordinate with contractors, engineers, and architects.
  • Ride Maintenance and Safety: Communicate with ride manufacturers to resolve difficulties and ensure the safest possible operation and maintenance of rides, and interface with governmental agencies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Employee Safety and Well-being: Ensure employee safety by working within and enforcing all OSHA requirements and other applicable safety laws, and ensure company property, facilities, rides, and equipment are installed and maintained in a safe, reliable, and cost-effective manner.
  • Materials and Services Procurement: Research, bid, and oversee the ordering of materials and services involved in maintenance and construction projects.
  • Manager on Duty and Park Programs: Act as the division's manager on duty and participate in the Park 1 and Unit 1 programs for Carowinds.
Qualifications
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree or related experience in industrial technology, maintenance management, engineering, or a related field, with 6-10 years of experience in park operations and/or construction and maintenance management.
  • Knowledge and Skills: General knowledge of engineering principles and biodynamics, budget preparation, adherence, and cost control, ability to work with subcontractors, and knowledge of materials, prices, and procedures used in construction and engineering.
  • Certifications and Licenses: Ability to pass a mandatory or random drug test and a background check, if 18 years of age or older, and possess a valid driver's license.
