Executive Director Job Description

The Double D Foundation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Director to lead our organization in achieving its mission to support and protect the Second Amendment. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the objectives and initiatives of the organization, working closely with the Board of Directors, and shaping the organization's future.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the organization, ensuring alignment with our mission and goals.
  • Develop and implement effective fundraising strategies to secure major gifts and grants, and work with the Board and staff to develop actionable fundraising plans.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including other nonprofit leaders, government officials, and industry partners.
  • Oversee all policies, objectives, and initiatives related to foundation activities, including grant review and approval processes.
  • Develop and manage budgets, policies, and procedures to support the functional infrastructure of the organization.
  • Champion and articulate the vision, mission, and strategic direction of the organization, and make day-to-day operational decisions.
  • Recruit, retain, and develop a high-performing team of staff and volunteers.
  • Provide the Board with the resources it needs to drive change and promote growth.
  • Play a key role in selecting Board members and serving as a liaison between the Board and staff.
  • Plan and prepare meeting materials and information for Board meetings in coordination with the Board chair.
  • Represent the organization in a professional and positive light, and attend and host various foundation events.
  • Maintain strong relationships with donors, community members, media, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure the organization's fiscal integrity, including submitting a proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements to the Board.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of financial documents, including budgets, cash flow, income statements, and balance statements.
  • Work with other leaders in the industry and government officials to take advantage of corporate social responsibility initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Review and approve contracts for services.
  • Contribute to the organization's standards on high integrity, safety, fair and equitable treatment, and a positive work environment.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of experience or a combination of related experience, education, and/or training.
  • Five or more years of senior nonprofit management experience.
  • Transparent and high-integrity leadership.
  • Experience working with a Board of Directors.
  • High-level strategic thinking and planning.
  • Ability to oversee and collaborate with staff.
  • Proven history of generating new revenue streams and improving financial results.
  • Active fundraising experience and excellent donor relations skills.
  • Previous success in establishing relationships with individuals and organizations of influence.
  • Solid organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, program development, and task facilitation.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision making, and reporting.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong public speaking ability.
  • Strong work ethic with a high degree of energy.
  • Ability to travel as needed to support fundraising efforts.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize and work with our Permission to Play Values.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Intermittent standing, walking, sitting, and bending throughout the workday.
  • Ability to wear appropriate Personal Protection Equipment as required by the position.
