Job Title: Financial Manager

Join the City of Hampton, VA team as a Financial Manager, responsible for managing revenue and expense funds, budget, and administrative functions for Hampton Coliseum/Hampton Arts Commission.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the department's revenues/accounts receivable process and reconcile with the City's financial system.
  • Prepare and submit monthly financial statements to the Director/Assistant Director Finance and Administration.
  • Assist in payroll processing and participate in the development of the annual operating budget for Hampton Coliseum/Hampton Arts Commission.
  • Process deposits and payments for artists, instructors, and vendors in accordance with contracts using the NWS financial system.
  • Supervise event Cash Room operations and cashier team, ensuring accurate accounting and reporting of all event revenues.
  • Reconcile sales and commissions with event merchandise vendors.
  • Supervise the Finance and Administration team to ensure timely and accurate financial, administrative, and technical support to department staff.
  • Provide leadership, training, counsel, motivation, and constructive performance reviews to the financial and administrative team.
  • Conduct event settlement, collect and review event revenues and expenses, and incorporate into settlement according to event contract.
  • Act as event duty manager when required.
  • Reconcile and report Food & Beverage sales to inventory for each event and complete monthly sales reports for all department venues.
Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in bookkeeping, financial management, budgeting, and payroll administration.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in supervising the work of others.
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of bookkeeping and financial management.
  • Knowledge of general office principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Proficiency in the use of a computer, including a thorough knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Municipal government accounting experience in an arena or performing arts theater preferred.
  • Experience in procurement processes preferred.
