Job Title: Equipment Operator/Laborer

Job Summary:

The Shelly Company, a leading supplier of aggregates, asphalt, ready mix concrete, and paving services, is seeking an experienced Equipment Operator/Laborer to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for assisting the Plant Operator with daily production duties, operating heavy equipment, and performing miscellaneous plant-related functions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Primary operation of a Loader, with ability to operate various other pieces of heavy equipment, accurately, efficiently, and safely.
  • Ramp all stockpiles and load customers safely and in a timely fashion.
  • Assist in the event of a breakdown.
  • Clean up around plants and surrounding area.
  • Lubricate and perform general maintenance on the equipment.
  • Ability to follow directions.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to do routine paperwork.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The employee frequently is required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move more than 25 pounds.
