Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Flight Test Specialist to join our team at Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining the F/A-18E-F Tactical Operational Flight Trainer (TOFT') and Advanced Development Station (ADS) in support of fleet training and Operational Flight Program (OFP) testing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and Maintain TOFT' and ADS Systems: Ensure the TOFT' and ADS systems are functioning properly and efficiently, and perform routine maintenance tasks to prevent downtime.
  • Troubleshoot Hardware Deficiencies: Identify and resolve hardware issues with the TOFT' and ADS systems, and collaborate with the maintenance team to implement repairs.
  • Utilize Computer Systems: Use Windows and Linux-based computer systems to configure and operate the TOFT' and ADS systems, and perform data analysis and reporting tasks.
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance: Regularly inspect and maintain the TOFT' and ADS systems to prevent equipment failure and ensure optimal performance.
  • Calibrate Visual Display Systems: Calibrate the TOFT/ADS visual display systems to ensure accurate and reliable performance.
  • Configure Initial Conditions Sets: Write initial conditions sets to configure the TOFT/ADS systems for various missions and objectives.
  • Recognize Cautions and Warnings: Identify and recognize cautions, warnings, and alerts that a pilot would receive in the F/A-18 cockpit.
  • Maintain Flight Schedule: Collaborate with the flight schedule team to ensure the flight schedule is up-to-date and accurate.
  • Prepare Trainers for Flights: Prepare trainers before flights to ensure they are ready and equipped to perform their duties.
  • Use Next Generation Threat System: Utilize the Next Generation Threat System to build constructive red and blue presentations in support of software testing, aircrew training, and customer objectives.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of the TOFT' and ADS systems, as well as excellent troubleshooting and maintenance skills. You will also need to be able to work effectively in a team environment and communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

We offer a competitive salary range of $80,015 to $124,677, depending on experience and qualifications.
