Job Description and Duties

Under the supervision of the Staff Services Manager, the incumbent performs Time and Attendance for Field Supervisors and their crews by working in the Integrated Maintenance Management System (IMMS) and Staff Central Programs. The incumbent works closely with the field on time submitted by the Supervisor or Leadworker for maintenance level activities performed on highways and byways weekly. The incumbent will be required to run reports meeting daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines. The incumbent also works with the Department's Human Resources (HR) Transactions and Worker Comp (WC) Specialist along with the Region's Compliance Analyst (SSA) on meeting compliance measures adhered by the Bargaining Unit Memorandum of Understandings (MOUs) and Fair Labor Standard Act (FLSA). The incumbent performs data entry, updates rosters, produces field reports, types letters, memos, and forms, answers telephones, copies/filing, and handles mail. The incumbent should have knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access. The incumbent must be multi-task oriented, self-starter, and team player, as this office is very busy and produces heavy workloads with many interruptions as our office is open to the public and field staff. The incumbent should be able to handle emergency situations effectively.

Working Conditions

The position is located in Nevada City, Nevada County. This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans's evolving telework policy. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed to meet operational needs. Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee's designated headquartered location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the headquartered location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
