Director of Compliance and Regulatory Strategy

Job Overview
The Flexible Packaging Association seeks an experienced professional to fill the role of Director of Regulatory Affairs. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and providing strategic guidance to members.
Key Responsibilities- Compliance Management: Identify, manage, and respond to regulatory proposals impacting manufacturers of flexible packaging and suppliers to the industry.
- Thought Leadership Development: Develop and submit comments on toxics in packaging, facility environmental and safety rules, medical device packaging guidance, and sustainability and circularity of flexible packaging.
- Member Support: Provide regulatory guidance to members and answer questions about compliance with new regulations.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor the Federal Register and report to the CEO and Director of Government Relations on areas of potential engagement.
- Timely Submissions: Propose and meet realistic timelines for regulatory submissions and approvals.
- Congressional Representation: Staff coalitions and represent the Association at events as assigned.
- A Bachelor's degree in political science, public policy, or environmental science; an advanced degree is preferred.
- 0-5 years of experience in developing environmental and safety policy based on member feedback.
- Understanding of regulatory processes, committee work in trade associations, and regulatory compliance for flexible packaging manufacturers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills with diverse stakeholders.
- Self-motivated with attention to detail and analytical, strategic, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- The ability to work autonomously and collectively to build consensus among internal and external stakeholders.
We offer a competitive salary of $80,000 per year, commensurate with experience. Additional benefits include an employee 401K plan with matching contribution up to three percent, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, health insurance, dental insurance, and vision insurance with no premium cost to the employee.
A hybrid schedule with up to two days working from home or a location other than the office is available, with Thursdays being mandatory in-office days. PTO and sick leave are also provided.
