Job Title: Director Regulatory Affairs
About UsThe Flexible Packaging Association is a leading industry organization dedicated to advancing the interests of flexible packaging manufacturers. We are seeking an experienced professional to join our team as Director of Regulatory Affairs.
Salary$80,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
Job DescriptionAs Director of Regulatory Affairs, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Association's regulatory engagement on various topics, including environmental, health and safety, product stewardship, and medical devices issues. Your primary objective will be to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and provide strategic guidance to members.
You will identify, manage, and respond to regulatory proposals impacting manufacturers of flexible packaging and suppliers to the industry. Additionally, you will develop thought leadership in comment submissions on toxics in packaging, facility environmental and safety rules, medical device packaging guidance, and sustainability and circularity of flexible packaging.

- Provide regulatory guidance to members and answer questions about compliance with new regulations.
- Monitor the Federal Register and report to the CEO and Director of Government Relations on areas of potential engagement.
- Propose and meet realistic timelines for regulatory submissions and approvals.
- Staff coalitions and represent the Association at events as assigned.
- A Bachelor's degree in political science, public policy, or environmental science; an advanced degree is preferred.
- 0-5 years of experience in developing environmental and safety policy based on member feedback.
- An understanding of regulatory processes, committee work in trade associations, and regulatory compliance for flexible packaging manufacturers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills with diverse stakeholders.
- Self-motivated with attention to detail and analytical, strategic, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- The ability to work autonomously and collectively to build consensus among internal and external stakeholders.
