Job Description

The Flexible Packaging Association, a leading trade association representing over 85,000 packaging professionals across the nation, is seeking a Director of Regulatory Affairs. This position will manage all aspects of the Associations regulatory engagement on topics including environmental, health and safety, product stewardship, and medical devices issues.

  • Identify, manage, and respond to regulatory proposals impacting manufacturers of flexible packaging and suppliers to the industry with special focus on FDA, EPA, and OSHA.
  • Develop FPAs thought leadership in comment submissions on toxics in packaging, facility environmental and safety rules, medical device packaging guidance, and sustainability and circularity of flexible packaging.
  • Provide regulatory guidance to FPAs membership and be available to answer questions about compliance with new regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the Federal Register and provide a report to the CEO and Director of Government Relations on areas of potential engagement.
  • Propose and meet realistic timelines for regulatory submissions and approvals.
  • Staff coalitions and represent FPA at events as assigned.
Requirements

This position requires 0-5 years of experience in developing environmental and safety policy based on member feedback. A Bachelors degree in political science, public policy, or environmental science is required, with an advanced degree preferred.

We offer a competitive salary of $75,000-$85,000, commensurate with experience. Additionally, we provide an employee 401K plan with matching contribution up to three percent, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, health insurance, dental insurance, and vision insurance with no premium cost to the employee.

The ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills with diverse stakeholder audiences. Self-motivation, attention to detail, and analytical, strategic, problem-solving, and organizational skills are essential. Ability to work well autonomously and collectively to build consensus amongst internal and external stakeholders is also required.
