Job Summary

This is a full-time position located in Montpelier, Vermont, with a starting salary of $21.32 per hour and full State of Vermont employee benefits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced technical accounting duties, including cost allocations and auditing financial documents for state and federal programs.
  • Assist in compiling financial data for the preparation of financial reports and prepare financial schedules.
  • Post, balance, and reconcile accounting records, process financial transactions, and make corrections in accounting records.
  • Perform and edit financial and statistical analysis for review and assist professional staff in preparing and maintaining accounting systems.
  • Prepare payrolls, maintain time and attendance records, and maintain inventory records.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent and two years or more of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or clerical work involving accounting or financial records.
  • Completion of a vocational/technical training program in business, office administration, financial support, or a related area and one year or more of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or clerical work involving accounting or financial records.
  • Associate degree in accounting, business administration, office administration, or a related field.
  • Two years or more full-time college coursework in accounting, business administration, office administration, or a related field.
  • One year or more of experience as a Financial Specialist I with the State of Vermont.
Special Requirements

Experience working with the VISION system may be required, and college training may be substituted for work experience on a year-for-year basis.
