Role Overview

This role is part of the Data Science & AI Solutions team at HP, focusing on the development and incubation of groundbreaking products and services that leverage AI technology.

As a Product Manager, you will be tasked with shaping the vision, roadmap, and specifications of these products, rapidly validating or invalidating the commercial potential of new ideas through the creation of initial prototypes.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise in AI tools and processes, possess a combination of tactical and strategic skills, and have an entrepreneurial mindset to identify emerging market opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Stay informed about industry trends and customer requirements related to AI.
  • Develop a streamlined incubation process to quickly intake, develop, and test various product concepts from ideation to initial prototyping.
  • Articulate a clear product vision for each concept, aligning with the company's strategic objectives.
  • Exhibit strong business acumen to swiftly identify and assess potential product viability in the fast-evolving AI landscape.
  • Lead the ideation, definition, and development of innovative concepts that utilize AI to address complex challenges and fulfill customer needs.
  • Communicate feature prioritization, timelines, and acceptance criteria to agile engineering teams, emphasizing rapid concept prototyping and validation.
  • Collaborate with product design to swiftly create wireframes and prototypes for testing and validation with potential customers.
  • Assist product marketing in developing and testing initial concept positioning and messaging.
  • Define and monitor key performance indicators and success metrics to evaluate the desirability of various product concepts and guide future ideation.
  • Regularly present to senior leadership on the status of incubation products, making recommendations to advance, pivot, or discontinue concepts.
  • Support the transition of successful products to the commercialization team.
Experience and Skills

We are looking for an experienced product manager or ex-founder with a proven track record in new product development within startup environments.

The candidate must possess a founder's mentality, capable of developing, communicating, and executing a clear product vision.

Proven experience (10+ years) in software product management, particularly in Data Science or AI Technologies, is required (a product portfolio must be shared).

Prior experience with artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, LLMs, or Generative AI solutions is essential.

Familiarity with R, Python, and cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure) is necessary.

Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making, are crucial.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse teams and articulate ideas at the executive level, are required.

Demonstrated capability to lead and influence cross-functional teams without direct authority is essential.

Prior experience with agile development methodologies and project management processes is preferred.

Education

A Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, data science, or related fields is required. An MBA and/or advanced degrees in AI-related fields are highly preferred.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across various U.S. geographic markets, with pay differing based on defined markets. The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is $130,000 to $170,000 annually, with additional opportunities for bonuses and/or equity. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
