Job Title: HVAC Contract Supervisor

Hampton City Schools is seeking a highly skilled HVAC Contract Supervisor to provide leadership and operational support for HVAC services.

Job Summary:

The HVAC Contract Supervisor will be responsible for planning and overseeing contracted heating and air conditioning maintenance, new construction projects, and repairs in accordance with industry and applicable safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and oversee contracted HVAC maintenance, new construction projects, and repairs in accordance with industry and applicable safety standards.
  • Evaluate projects, determine feasibility, scope of work, estimates material, and personnel requirements.
  • Monitor and control HVAC, Energy Management and Control System (EMCS), and Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) systems at applicable facilities.
  • Maintain and upgrade Direct Digital Control (DDC) programs.
  • Maintain as-built control records for district-wide system operation.
  • Support craftsmen with troubleshooting HVAC, EMCS, IAQ, and electrical systems.
  • Work closely with Maintenance Service's dispatch to confirm work order validation through EMCS review.
  • Coordinate building system schedules and operation with annual district needs.
  • Schedule and inspect HVAC/refrigeration equipment installed by contractors.
  • Review plans and provide design specifications and budget documents for new, retrofit, and replacement HVAC, EMCS, IAQ, and electrical systems.
  • Respond to after-hours calls for troubleshooting.
Requirements:
  • Completion of high school/GED required; completion of trade school courses in HVAC maintenance/installation, apprenticeship program, or applied job experience which provides the required knowledge.
  • Extensive knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used to install, repair, and maintain HVAC control systems/equipment, boiler operations, and associated control systems.
  • Ability to read and analyze blueprints, wiring schematics, and manufacturer's literature and the ability to effectively use a computer.
  • EPA certified in handling refrigerants.
  • Possess a valid Virginia driver license with an acceptable driving record and a valid master mechanical license.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work.
  • Ability to prepare estimates and order materials for maintenance and repair jobs; ability to exercise independent judgment in determining operations conditions; ability to plan, lay out, supervise and inspect the work of subordinates; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work on roofs with multiple stories in height, lift at least 75 pounds and work in dirty/dusty conditions.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time; agility to bend, stoop and reach overhead.
