Job Title: HVAC Technician I

Alutiiq Commercial Enterprises is seeking a skilled HVAC Technician I to join our team at Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Hampton, VA.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will provide preventive maintenance and inspection services for all HVAC equipment located on the base. This includes performing routine maintenance tasks, inspecting and cleaning equipment, and making minor repairs as needed.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform and assist in preventative maintenance programs on all HVAC related equipment, including chillers, boilers, air handlers, and package and split system air conditioning units.
  • Grease and oil pumps and motors, inspect and clean HVAC units and coils, and inspect and change drive belts as needed.
  • Transfer, change, and dispose of various types of filter media throughout the base.
  • Inspect HVAC machinery in operation to ensure proper functioning and perform or assist in small minor repairs.
  • Assist in performing seasonal changeover of all HVAC related equipment, including cleaning boiler and chiller tubes, cleaning, and winterizing cooling towers.
  • Assist in the procurement of parts and materials for job completion.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of principles and practices of maintenance, repair, and replacement of HVAC equipment.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in adverse situations.
  • Ability to safely utilize, operate, and maintain hand and power tools common to the electrical and HVAC trade.
  • Ability to interpret and apply NEC, local codes, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of operation and installation of a variety of complete electrical systems equipment.
Clearances, Certifications, Training, etc.:
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
  • Three years HVAC experience and one year training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
