Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Housing Specialist Coordinator to join our team at the Richmond Redevelopment & Housing Authority. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and implementing the Housing Choice Voucher Program, ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of housing assistance to eligible participants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the issuance of Housing Choice Vouchers to eligible participants
  • Oversee and coordinate landlord briefings each quarter
  • Point person for landlord questions regarding Rent Café
  • Review tenant applications for housing assistance payments and determine eligibility
  • Compute housing assistance payments and family rental rates
  • Coordinate the inspection of proposed housing units
  • Contact landlords to determine contract rent and authorize payments
  • Conduct annual re-examinations of family eligibility and/or rental amounts
  • Process leasing within 15 days of receipt to remain in compliance with legislative rule VA HB 6
  • Monitor and keep accurate accounts of all leasing packets received
Requirements
  • Considerable knowledge of subsidized housing program requirements and guidance
  • Knowledge of non-program federal requirements that affect income and rent determinations
  • Ability to apply HUD and RRHA policies and procedures
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent computer skills and ability to make error-free mathematical computations
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification as a Public Housing Manager or Certified Property Manager
  • Certification in Eligibility, Occupancy, and Rent Calculation from a HUD Certified Trainer
