Position Overview:

The Trauma Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of trauma care within the organization. This position is responsible for overseeing the compliance and quality of trauma services provided to patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Complete annual training and competency assessments for the department and organization promptly.
  • Adhere to all regulations outlined in the IL Administrative Code for Level II Trauma Centers.
  • Maintain accurate records to confirm that proficiency testing samples are handled similarly to patient samples, and sign the attestation statement for proficiency testing results when necessary.
  • Document all corrective measures taken when testing systems deviate from established performance standards.
  • Effectively communicate assessment results to patients, their families, and the healthcare team.
  • Collect and analyze trauma data, providing insights to Emergency Department leadership.
  • Ensure timely submission of all required trauma data to the Illinois Department of Public Health.
  • Complete special projects with professionalism and within designated timelines.
  • Uphold the confidentiality of all sensitive information.
Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • Current licensure as a Trauma Nurse Specialist in Illinois, in good standing.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in an Emergency Department setting.
  • Active registered nurse licensure in Illinois.
  • Certification in AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers - CPR.
  • Completion of FEMA 100 & 200 certifications within three months of hire.
  • NIHSS certification to be obtained within six months of hire.
  • AHA ACLS and PALS certifications required within six months.
  • ECRN certification/licensure to be achieved within one year of hire.
