Job Summary

The Office of Clerk Circuit Court is seeking a highly motivated Comptroller Technician to join our team. As a Comptroller Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining the financial integrity of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and update financial records, including accounts payable and receivable, general ledger entries, and other financial transactions.
  • Review, process, and verify payroll and payroll disbursements.
  • Perform complex accounting support work and accounts maintenance functions according to generally accepted accounting principles, established procedures, departmental guidelines, and regulatory requirements applicable to the work.
  • Prepare, process, reconcile, and accurately record hard and cash receipt deposits; classify receipts in accordance with established codes; prepare daily tabulation and reports of cash receipts; account for and safeguard cash and checks.
  • Ensure revenues are coded and recorded correctly to the proper account in the general ledger and/or subsidiaries.
  • Maintain and update critical logs, various databases, accounts, backup, and vendor files and schedules; generate a variety of records, lists, forms, reports, and/or statements relating to department functions; prepare, issue, or renew a variety of fiscal documentation.
  • Review reports, including budget to actual, to ensure payments do not exceed designated dollar amount based on purchase orders, contracts, agreements, and budget, and maintain compliance.
  • Calculate, prepare, reconcile, and record tax remittances with supporting financial statements and documentation.
  • Receive, process, and verify accuracy and completeness of remittance documents. Apply payments to accounts.
  • Print, scan, copy, distribute, and/or file records, lists, forms, reports, statements, spreadsheets, and other documentation applicable to assigned accounting functions.
  • Conduct pre-audit assessments by meticulously reviewing financial records and transactions to identify discrepancies, inconsistencies, and potential issues for further investigation by auditors.
  • Review, batch, download, and export from software application for the County's purchase card charges through bank's web software.
  • Conduct audit of receipts to review for readable scan images and proper account coding according to departmental procedures.
  • Receive and respond to inquiries concerning records, assigned accounts, and guide customers on proper procedures; provide resolution, information, or direction accordingly in a timely manner.
  • Work with Accountants and departments on proper account allocation.
  • Review, process, and verify posting of wires, payments, or invoices; release any purchase orders according to the request of the department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Two (2) year degree in Accounting, Business, or related field.
  • Two (2) years' experience in specialized accounting support work that demonstrates the ability to maintain accurate and detailed financial data in an automated systems environment preferably in a government entity; or equivalent combination of four (4) years' education, training, and experience in specialized accounting support work that demonstrates the ability to maintain accurate and detailed financial data in an automated systems environment preferably in a government entity.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license.
  • Must meet Clerk's Office testing requirements.
Physical Requirements
  • Sitting for long periods of time.
  • Talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motion.
  • Occasional (up to 1/3 of the work time) lifting, carrying to lift up to 15 lbs., pushing, and pulling.
  • Some occasional walking or standing may be required.
