Phlebotomy Support Technician

Job Summary
The Phlebotomy Support Technician I is responsible for the collection and processing of blood and other specimens as directed. Performs proper specimen collection by confirming patient ID, collecting specimens in proper tubes, utilizing venipuncture/capillary techniques, and accurately labeling the specimens to ensure accurate patient results.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and process blood and other specimens as directed
- Confirm patient ID and accurately label specimens
- Utilize venipuncture/capillary techniques for specimen collection
- Process specimens appropriately for subsequent testing
- Access, update information, and make corrections to orders as needed
Requirements
- Education
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Experience
- None Required, 6 months phlebotomy experience or 1 year related experience preferred
- Skills
- Strong analytical/problem solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with different levels of management
- Able to work independently and collaboratively in teams
- Proficient in using computers and computer systems
- Excellent customer service, time management, interpersonal, presentation, organization, prioritizing, decision-making, and planning skills
