Job Summary

The Phlebotomy Support Technician is responsible for the collection and processing of blood and other specimens as directed. This includes confirming patient ID, collecting specimens in proper tubes, utilizing venipuncture/capillary techniques, and accurately labeling the specimens to ensure accurate patient results.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and process blood and other specimens as directed
  • Confirm patient ID and collect specimens in proper tubes
  • Utilize venipuncture/capillary techniques and accurately label specimens
  • Process specimens appropriately for subsequent testing
  • Access, update information, and make corrections to orders as needed

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 3 months phlebotomy experience in a laboratory setting
  • Preferred: 6 months phlebotomy experience
  • Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills, ability to work independently and collaboratively in teams, proficient in using computers and computer systems
  • Licensure/Certification/Registration: Certified as a Phlebotomy Technician or Medical Laboratory Assistant from a nationally recognized laboratory certifying agency
