Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled VMware Systems Engineer to join our team at GovCIO. As a key member of our IT team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing a VMware environment, including datacenter clusters managed by vCenter.

Key Responsibilities
  • VMware Environment Management: Design, implement, and manage a VMware environment, including datacenter clusters managed by vCenter.
  • Technical Assistance: Provide technical assistance and advice on complex activities such as installation, configuration, repair, and maintenance of VMware systems.
  • Capacity Planning: Provide capacity planning, installation, configuration, problem resolution, and Tier 3 support of all servers, hosts, and supporting applications.
  • System Administration: Provide assistance in agent configuration and troubleshooting, as well as develop complete specifications to enable computer programmers to prepare required programs.
  • Project Management: Work with considerable freedom to make decisions on the techniques and approaches to be used, and prepare recommendations for system improvement for management and user consideration.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree with 2-5 years of experience (or commensurate experience).
  • VMware Certification: Current VMware certification (minimally, Data Center Virtualization and/or Cloud).
  • Technical Skills: Extensive VMware Virtualization Experience, Red Hat Linux System Administration skills, Windows Server (2008 R2, 2012) and Active Directory, PowerShell script or equivalent demonstrated experience, Network knowledge, skills, and demonstrated experience in a complex network data center, Database Administration Skills (Preferred: MS SQL and Linux SQL).
  • Clearance: Public Trust clearance.
