About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to lead new product development within the Electronic Warfare Mechanical Design Hardware Department at Raytheon. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, integrating, verifying, and producing digital processor and RF receiver subsystems for airborne platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop RF systems for challenging thermal and high vibration environments.
  • Lead programs as a Responsible Engineering Authority (REA) or Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL), ensuring program success along technical, cost, and schedule parameters.
  • Oversee junior engineers' job assignments and performance, providing technical guidance and mentorship.
  • Develop and maintain working knowledge of electronics packaging design and manufacturing, including thermal and structural design and analysis, electrical component design, and printed wiring board and circuit card assembly processes.
  • Provide technical presentations and establish customer relationships, leading by example as a highly motivated self-starter with strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
  • 8 years' experience with Mechanical Design, Development, and/or Implementation of Defense-related Electronic Systems, or 5 years with an advanced degree.
  • Experience executing root cause analysis and/or developing effective corrective actions.
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and/or ASME drawing and documentation standards and procedures.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Broad-based mechanical engineering experience spanning the entire product development lifecycle, including requirements allocation, detailed design, packaging, manufacturing support, hardware integration, environmental testing, and delivery of hardware.
  • Experience with EW/Radar Systems or RF Products.
  • Experience with Conformal Antenna Array Packaging.
  • Experience with managing budget and schedule (Earned Value Management (EVM)).
  • Previous experience with design reviews, including preparation of chart decks, generating design artifacts, and presenting to customers.
