About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to lead new product development within the Electronic Warfare Mechanical Design Hardware Department at Raytheon.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop mechanical systems for challenging thermal and high vibration environments.
  • Lead programs as a Responsible Engineering Authority (REA) or Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL), ensuring program success along technical, cost, and schedule parameters.
  • Oversee junior engineer's job assignments and performance, providing technical guidance and mentorship.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design artifacts and chart decks.
  • Interface and communicate with customers regarding program performance, assessments, and technical requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product development and delivery.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 8 years of experience in mechanical design, development, and implementation of defense-related electronic systems, or 5 years with an advanced degree.
  • Experience executing root cause analysis and developing effective corrective actions.
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and/or ASME drawing and documentation standards and procedures.
  • Experience with solid modeling and creating mechanical designs in Pro/Engineer/CREO or similar tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Broad-based mechanical engineering experience spanning the entire product development lifecycle.
  • Experience with EW/Radar Systems or RF Products.
  • Experience with Conformal Antenna Array Packaging.
  • Experience with managing budget and schedule (Earned Value Management (EVM)).
  • Previous experience with design reviews and technical presentations.
