As a Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design, integration, and production of advanced digital processor and RF receiver subsystems tailored for airborne platforms.


Key Responsibilities:

Your role will encompass:

  • Leading mechanical development across various programs.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams and internal stakeholders.
  • Designing RF systems capable of withstanding demanding thermal and vibration conditions.
  • Acting as a Responsible Engineering Authority (REA) or Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL).
  • Overseeing junior engineers, guiding their assignments and performance.

This position necessitates a robust understanding of electronics packaging design and manufacturing, including:

  • Thermal and structural design and analysis.
  • Electrical component design and construction.
  • Printed wiring board and circuit card assembly processes.
  • Metal fabrication and RF isolation mechanical design.
  • Environmental testing methodologies.

Additionally, familiarity with electronics/processor systems design utilizing COTS/MOTS components is essential.


Qualifications Required:

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in Mechanical Design, Development, or Implementation of Defense-related Electronic Systems, or 5 years with an advanced degree.
  • Experience in root cause analysis and corrective action development.
  • Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and ASME standards.
  • Solid modeling experience, particularly with Pro/Engineer/CREO or similar tools.
  • Active U.S. government issued security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ideal candidates will also have:

  • Comprehensive mechanical engineering experience throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Experience with EW/Radar Systems or RF Products.
  • Familiarity with Conformal Antenna Array Packaging.
  • Budget and schedule management experience.
  • Leadership experience in technical teams.
  • Expertise in electronics packaging and thermal analysis.
