About the Role:

This Carpenter position at Hensel Phelps is responsible for constructing and repairing building frameworks and structures. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of wood and metal properties and be able to take initiative and ask questions. The role requires attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions. The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling and removing forms for concrete installation, using assorted hand tools, and building and installing window-frames, doors, doorframes, staircases, and partitions. The position also involves ensuring that layout of flooring, roofing, and drywall are leveled and compatible. The candidate will be required to read blueprints, drawings, and sketches to fully grasp project requirements and effectively operate small hand and power tools to assist with various worksite projects. The role also involves loading, unloading, and identifying building materials, machinery, and tools, and distributing site materials to the appropriate locations according to project plans and specifications. The successful candidate will promote a safe work environment and communicate jobsite hazards.

Key Responsibilities:

Assemble and remove forms for concrete installation
Use assorted hand tools, including ten-pound sledgehammers, shovels, picks, handsaws, skill saws, and drills
Build and/or install window-frames, doors, doorframes, staircases, stairways, partitions, millwork, trim, siding, drywall, and overall building frames
Ensure that layout of flooring, roofing, and drywall are leveled and compatible
Read blueprints, drawings, and sketches to fully grasp project requirements
Effectively operate small hand and power tools to assist with various worksite projects
Load, unload, and identify building materials, machinery, and tools
Distribute site materials to the appropriate locations according to project plans and specifications
Promote a safe work environment and communicate jobsite hazards

Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED
Valid Driver's License, required
Follow safe work practices in accordance with the Hensel Phelps safety and health program
Must be able to take initiative and ask questions
Possess a keen attention to detail and be able to follow instructions
Workers must provide their own safety footwear
Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with co-workers and stakeholders
Strong mathematical reasoning and quantitative skills
Must be reliable and punctual. This includes having reliable transportation and consistent work attendance

Preferred Qualifications:

Experienced in construction layout, blueprint reading, and shop drawing reading
OSHA 10 Certification
CPR & First Aid Certification
