Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Optical Test Engineer to join our team at Raytheon. As a key member of our Test Equipment Engineering organization, you will be responsible for the development, integration, test, and maintenance of optical test equipment in a production environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop optical test requirements based on system-level performance requirements.
  • Design optical test stations for production factories, customer sites, and engineering needs.
  • Build and maintain optical test stations throughout the factory, supporting multiple programs.
  • Troubleshoot hardware for test equipment development.
  • Communicate with a larger engineering team and with functional and program leadership.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, and a minimum of 8 years of prior engineering experience.
  • Experience designing visible or infrared optical test stations and interferometric alignment test equipment.
  • Experience developing test documentation, including test plans, alignment procedures, and calibration procedures for a production environment.
  • Experience building, aligning, testing, calibrating, and/or maintaining optical systems and equipment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Optical Design software, such as ZEMAX or Code5.
  • Experience with 3D CAD software, such as CREO.
  • Familiarity with optical metrology standards and processes.
  • Experience with EO/IR systems in a production environment.
  • Experience in data analysis for identifying trends and improvement opportunities.
