Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our team at Michigan Institute of Urology. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our medical team in a fast-paced office environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare procedure rooms for local procedures by setting up instrumentation, checking case supplies, and opening sterile instruments/supplies in an aseptic technique.
  • Assist patients to the proper procedure room, recognize the importance of proper body mechanics when lifting and moving patients, and demonstrate knowledge of universal precautions, PPE, and aseptic technique.
  • Accurately document procedures on procedure-specific memos and use and document on the Electronic Health Record.
  • Administer injections/instillations on the order of the physician, mix medications, and insert/remove urinary catheters.
  • Prepare for physician/provider schedule, check patient charts for ordered testing/blood work, and ensure that results are in the patient medical record.
  • Clean and disinfect equipment after use, knowledge of cold sterilization, and maintenance of such solutions.
  • Participate in the decontamination and processing of procedure instrumentation, operate the autoclave, and maintain autoclave records.
  • Assist in room clean-up, remove soiled instrumentation, supplies, and trash from the procedure room, and wipe down furniture/equipment.
  • Collaborate with orientation of new personnel in the office, report to the supervisor when the office schedule is finished, and assist office personnel in other areas.
Requirements
  • High School graduate or GED; Medical Assistant diploma required.
  • Medical Assistant certification is preferred.
  • 1 year of medical assistant office experience demonstrating competency is preferred.
