Job Summary

As a Diagnostic Sonographer at Prisma Health, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care services using diagnostic medical sonography. Under the direction of the Ultrasound Manager and Medical Director, you will work independently to acquire and analyze sonograms, synthesizing sonographic information and medical history to communicate findings to physicians.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify patients using two demographic identifiers and review written orders for procedures to be performed.
  • Acquire requisitions and check for clinical information, date, and account numbers, verifying correct account numbers.
  • Perform all ultrasound procedures using independent judgment, accurately differentiating between normal and pathological findings.
  • Analyze sonograms and communicate findings to physicians, ensuring imaging quality meets quality control standards.
  • Provide excellent customer service, explaining procedures to patients and introducing yourself and department.
  • Transport patients as necessary, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Maintain a sanitary and organized environment, stocking work areas with linens and supplies as needed.
  • Comply with departmental downtime protocols and maintain accurate records of exams performed.
  • Assist in completing debit/credit forms and troubleshoot improper charges.
  • Participate in daily patient flow, resolving scheduling conflicts and promoting intra, inter, and external communications.
  • Deliver specimens to the lab as necessary and communicate knowledgeably with physicians/healthcare workers regarding patient procedures.
Requirements
  • Enrollment in or completion of an accredited Sonography program.
  • Applicable certification (ARDMS, RVT, or RCS) within one year.
  • Preferred certifications: ARRT in Radiology, PACS experience.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in database management.
  • Data entry and mathematical skills.
