Ultrasound Technologist Job Description

At Johns Hopkins Medical Imaging, we are seeking a highly skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the advancement of medical imaging technology.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform diagnostic sonographic and interventional procedures under the supervision of a Chief Imaging Technologist and with the assistance of a Physician or Senior Sonographer.
  • Select and operate appropriate equipment and protocols for patient exams, considering patient age, development, and study requirements.
  • Position patients optimally for exams, adhering to established guidelines.
  • Obtain complete series of diagnostic images within agreed-upon time frames, demonstrating knowledge of normal and abnormal anatomy.
  • Provide interpreting physicians with completed studies and preliminary findings.
  • Adhere to aseptic technique procedures and protocols, and provide ultrasound guidance for basic invasive procedures.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent, including completion of an approved diagnostic sonography curriculum.
  • Registration by The American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) is required.
  • CPR BLS certification is required.
  • Thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology related to the position.
  • General knowledge of sonogram protocols for performing examinations.
